My Universe

In the beginning there was a giant opal floating in space. It almost danced in still life because around it were silent stars, not moving, not shining, not making a sound. But that all began to change when a shooting star once hit a side of it and a chip came off which became Hemachandra, the Moon. She was a fragile flower blowing in the wind. One day, another star swooped by and took off one of her fingers. This became Aditya, the sun. They married, and their children were: Brimwald (sea way), Johanna(daughter of god) , the god Akash (sky), and the goddess Lavanya (grace). Akash was the only son in the family, and gave his sisters beautiful children. But he married Johanna. Brimwald was given the ocean and all its wonders. Johanna was given the plants, flowers, and rich fruits of the earth. But Lavanya was given only one child, Drake. Lavanya was jealous of her sisters, so she went to Hemachandra and Aditya.
“Mother, Father, I have been given only one child. How can I ever be happy?”
Her parents said, “Your son is a mighty dragon. He is part of the sky. Your sisters’ children are merely of the earth and the water. How could you not be happy?”
Lavanya grew arrogant and believed her son was better than Akash, and Drake could take his place. A battle of father and son was held, but mighty Akash cast his son deep in the earth to the underworld. Lavanya, in her grief, killed Akash and herself. The only God’s left in heaven were now dead.
Drake found many creatures in the underworld. Hobbit-like men who were mining into the rock, fairies with black dripping wings like ink, swooping up and down as if they were saying something. Beautiful women, gnomes, creatures of all kinds; they were all living in this godforsaken place. Suddenly, a nymph rose from the wet black rocky floor. Her name was Akuji (dead and awake). Together they had many children. One of their children was Nyx, goddess of the underworld. Drake once gave Nyx a sack filled with seeds.
“Each seed,” he said, “you must plant in the realms of my aunts. Only then can their children start to grow.”
Nyx could only leave the underworld at night, so she crept out of a hole in the ground wearing a velvety purple cloak to protect her pale skin from the moon’s harsh rays.
In the watery realm of Brimwald, hardly any sound was whispered. But once, as Nyx threw a seed into the ocean, it caused a whirlpool and out sprung Calypso, goddess of the oceans. All sorts of magical creatures were born as well. One of them was the merman Aquarius. Calypso married him, and together they ruled over the oceans and created many fascinating creatures.
The land of green was also quiet, but when Nyx planted a seed in the giant garden that spread for miles, out sprung Bardo, god of the earth. Thousands of forest fairies, nymphs, elves, and magical creatures were born, too. Bardo married Illusen, a forest nymph, and had many children as well. Amongst these children is the race of man. Bardo gave man food, and a place to put his feet. Calypso gave man water, and the ability to fish. Nyx took care of the souls after they passed. And the mystic wind gave them life.
